  • Kootenay Unchurch a Natural Choice

If we bundled all of the things we have learned throughout life, you could say we learned it all in a natural way.    Mankind certainly does have a ‘natural’ way of learning, and because of it we have developed a ‘natural’ way of teaching.  If we consider how churches teach the Word of God and judge it by their success, you could say they must not be teaching it in a natural way.  There is nothing wrong with the Word of God, there is something wrong with the way churches teach it.

Our learning of anything seems to be our ability to make choices.  All mankind is in pursuit of the best way of doing things, the fastest, simplest, easiest, most natural way of doing things.  Why is the Word of God the only exception?  Why do churches teach it in such an unnatural way?  One explanation would be that it is the only source of education around.  Other than the Bible, everything taught in a church is someone else’s opinion or teaching, and taught with the position of authority and complete knowledge, so much so as to be beyond question.

The Bible describes God communicating with Jeremiah about this situation even before Jesus’ time.  He told Jeremiah the day would come that no man shall call on his brother or neighbour saying know the Lord for they all shall know Me, from the least to the greatest.  God would write His Laws in our mind and on the tablets of our heart to accomplish this.

Today’s churches do not follow this teaching.  Theirs’ is  not natural, and seems to disregard the fact that God has put the only valid source of information within each and every one of us so we would all know Him!  Churches are failing, and they know it, but not why.

KU is new.  We teach a simple method of using just one scripture of the Bible as a learning tool, unlocking what God wrote in our heart and mind, producing a spiritual viewpoint for us.  We are naturally looking for the best way, the easiest, the most sensible way, and our mind will naturally recognize these qualities in  God’s Way.  With a little repetition, God’s Way will soon become your way, your default.  Instead of someone else telling you how you should feel and what to believe, KU teaches how to discover it within yourself.  Everyone on earth comes  fully capable and ready to learn from the Bible’s examples on how to use God’s Word.

KU offers a choice to learn God’s Word  in the way we all naturally learn.

  • My Journey

A journey I had longed for my entire life, just started!  My spiritual one.   It started the very second I answered my own question while driving to Calgary one morning.  I had just finished asking myself ‘ well, was God’s Word good?’  Yes!!! I yelled out enthusiastically, ‘you can’t get any better proof than that!

Proof!  That thing I had been seeking for as long I could remember.  I had convinced myself that I needed proof in order to have faith in His Word, I had demanded it of Him.  I had tried every avenue I could, looking for it without any success.  I think in fact I was nearly hopeless.  On my way to work at sixty six years of age and I still hadn’t found any proof…until now!

    Fast forward seven years.

My spiritual journey started at a pinpoint in time, the moment I began to trust God’s Word.  I had not been looking for a journey, I wanted faith.  I think by this time I really had no idea of what I was looking for anymore, something called faith, something I refused to have without proof.  Now I had it and  along with the proof came trust and the start of my journey to faith.  It wasn’t instant like I thought it would be,  it just started and kept going.

My journey had started the moment my mind had accepted my thoughts as proof.  I had provided enough evidence somehow, to reach a threshold required to become proof.  I did not decide it was proof; the decision was made for me.

What I had proven to myself was that using God’s Word changed my thinking…every time.  His Word truly is alive and exerts force.  It’s this force that changes my thinking in the same way centrifugal force changes a bicycle ride.  It’s always available and active when using His Word.

So started for me a form of communication with God using the  second great commandment.  Just trying to figure out the first part ‘LOVE your neighbour AS YOURSELF ‘, always left me with what I called a spiritual viewpoint; God’s Viewpoint.  I loved it!  It was always better in really nice ways, more compassionate, loving, or forgiving but what I loved the most was how close it made me feel to God when I chose his view better than mine.

I was so thrilled to finally be feeling a real connection I wanted to feel it as often as possible.  I began looking for anything I could wonder about that required me to think of how I ‘love as myself’, what would make me feel loved in any particular scenario.  This is the part I think is exactly like when I first rode my bike.  Once I knew how, I wanted to ride it everywhere and all the time.

Finding proof so easy and readily available after a lifetime of seeking it is indescribable.  I began to ooze trust and faith using this commandment.  Each time, the process drew me closer to God with a deeply joyful experience, leaving me with an image of a new strand  woven into a rope  manifesting  itself between God and me.  After sixty six years of looking for faith and now finding it, I was on a down hill run with a full head of steam!

The trust forming from such constant use was becoming rock solid.  I knew I trusted this Word completely and had real faith in it.  I was using the spiritual viewpoint in my job and daily life now.  I had gotten so good and so so quick at seeing the spiritual viewpoint of things I was using it without thinking.  This commandment was now a subconscious thought running in real time, guiding and showing  me God’s Viewpoint about everything happening in my day.

Just imagine, I was developing faith in the Word of God, and not just any Word either, this Word was the one that all the laws and prophets hang upon.  Could there have possibly been a better scripture to begin building trust in? I don’t think so, and I don’t think it was by accident either.  This process was God answering my pleading, demanding, and praying for Him to show me some proof!  It had always been there, I just didn’t know how to see it until He showed me.

I have faith.  Now what?  God’s Word was guiding me, but where?

  • Tiny Steps…Huge Strides

Yesterday morning I was up writing ‘Irwin’ at about 5 am.  I remembered suddenly it was my day to water, I looked at the clock and thought… close enough.  I can water from 6 to 10 on even days, the days are hot and the lawn really needs water so I went out and turned the water on thinking of all the times I had forgot or was late turning them on, so it would be just a bit of ‘catch up’ if I started an hour early.  On went the water but, just as I was going back to house I started feeling guilty but not so much that I changed my mind.  Another coffee and on with my writing, except that rotten little feeling of guilt kept slithering in…I just couldn’t shake it.

I reluctantly stopped writing and started thinking about my guilty feeling.  I knew why I was feeling that way but I some how resisted acting upon it, instead I went on trying to accept my reasoning for the extra sprinkling time and excusing my decision.  The resistance I struggled with was the force of God’s Word.

I had come to trust His Word by using part of Jesus’ second great commandment, always looking for how I ‘love as myself’ in whatever situation I found myself in, I needed to know before contemplating how to love my neighbor as myself.  Thinking of ‘how I love as myself’ always directed my thinking in very different directions compared to the way I was thinking before using the second commandment.

It was this change in my thinking, that my mind had accepted as proof of the force of God’s Word.  This force  always re-directed my thinking when using His Word.  It was the same as centrifugal force is always present and acting upon me when riding my bike.  When I ride my bike the force is always there, when I use His Word the force is always there.  The force directed my mind to search my heart for ‘how I love as myself’ each time, and I began to consider this new thought to be God’s Opinion.

There is no doubt at all that what happens is Jesus’ second commandment connects my mind and heart with what God said He wrote on my mind and heart.  I believe Jesus gave this 2nd great commandment knowing full well that using it would lead to accomplishing the first and most important commandment of all…To love our God with our whole heart, our whole mind, and our whole soul.

Each and every time I used this commandment God’s opinion, derived from my heart and mind, showed me the way He loves me, the way I love myself.  His resulting opinion was always so much better, I found it easy to choose His Way as the best way.  The more times I choose it, the more I learned how I ‘love as myself’, an the more I would love His Opinion and guidance, and the more I loved Him with my whole heart, mind, and soul.

Each time I chose His Way over mine I was repenting and experiencing a joy that is unique to following His Way.  Of the greatest importance is to realize that this repenting and joy does not rely on any physical action.  It is this act of repentance, or choosing His way as the better way, that produces and intense feeling of belonging, along with joy, trust, and faith in His Word.  Repeating this process over and over produced permanent change in the way I now think.  God’s Word is powerful and it does exert force.

It was the force of His Word that I could not resist, that turned me around and shut the sprinkler off and to wait for another hour.  I am in eternal debt and joy each time I make a conscious choice in His direction,  even the tiny ones led to huge strides in my trust and faith of His Word.  It is only this faith that God requires of us to be saved by Him and to Him.   God wrote His Laws in our heart and mind so we could all know Him, from the least of us to the greatest.

  • Irwin

I grew up on the outskirts of a small village and often walked home from school on nice days.  I met a boy named Irwin who rode his bike to school and back every day.  Irwin lived past the point where our routes home separated and it gave us about 20 minutes of walking in the same direction.  Irwin rode is bike in little circles around me as we talked along the way.  I can’t remember what we talked about but there was always a lot of laughing and fun.

We became good friends throughout the school years on our walks home but as many good friends do, we moved on.  Irwin was different, some said he was a bit ‘touched’ , but I loved his difference.  Irwin was the happiest person I knew.  I loved our simple uncomplicated talks and how much we laughed together.  I wondered about Irwin, always happy and starstruck at everything around us.  I had no idea what made Irwin the way he was but I envied him.  It was as if nothing bothered him, he somehow seemed immune to worries, always happy and smiling.

I have fond memories of Irwin and would have to say if he was ‘touched’, it must have been by God.  I say this because I experienced a period of time when I was just like Irwin.  I was so happy it seemed like nothing was worth worrying about.  Nothing could wipe the permasmile off my face for a period of time that became a unique, once in a lifetime period of bliss.  I became as happy with life as Irwin.  I had just been ‘touched’ by God myself, and became born of His promised Holy Spirit the moment I believed.  I was  changed  in ways that are still revealing themselves today.  Still me but, but now complete.  A child of God.

Just as any 66 year old newborn, I had a lot of learning to, and all spiritual.  I had spent all of my life doubting the Word of God except for the last year and a half, starting the very moment I began to ‘trust’ His Word.  ‘Trust’ proved to be just as the Bible said, the beginning of my knowledge and understanding of  His Word.

Today I understand  Irwin’s world a little better.  Since my spiritual birth I have the conviction that all is well, there’s nothing to worry about.  Even though life is so much more difficult today than it was in 1966, and I continue falling to Satan’s influences in so many ways,  I have no worries about my future with God.  Irwin was born ‘touched’, by God I think, he had no worries.

KU is a personal study about ‘trust’ focused, on the Word of God.  Trust is the gate keeper to the road leading to a place of no worries about your future.  Passing through the gate was instantaneous for me the first time I realized the proof.  With proof comes trust.   Learn where, when, why, and how we be began trusting anything in our lives and you will know how to begin trusting God’s Word.

The KU online blog teaches how we develop trust in everything and goes on to apply that knowledge to the Word of God.  Recognizing the proof  provided by His Word and the resulting trust is the key to the gate.  We operate as our own gate keeper unless we take the time to seek out our own proof and begin to truly trust His Word.  Once you begin trusting it you’re through the gate and on the path leading to faith in God’s Word.  The journey is exciting beyond description, building and strengthening faith every step of the way.

  • Beginning to Trust

    Part Four

Yesterday I said that proof is a state of our mind.  It is up to our mind to decide if evidence presented in support of something, is proof.   Regardless of the evidence, the mind will validate it or not, as proof.  If it is valid proof, we begin to trust it and develop a little bit of faith.  Our mind seems to go on judging evidence presented by our five senses with ease but what about love?  Here is an example where there may not be any physical evidence to judge, yet we all know something powerful is happening when love is involved.  Our mind searches our heart for proof of love, compassion, understanding… the laws God has written on the tablets of our heart and in our mind, judging proof ya or nay.

Our mind is perfectly capable of operating without any of our five senses’ inputs.  Between the mind and the heart we can understand anything as long as we have proof.  Proof does not have to come from all or any of our senses, but can be recognized with the heart and the mind alone.  With proof, we begin to trust, with trust we begin developing faith, with  faith we come to believe,  If it is God’s Word you have trusted, developed faith in, and come to believe, you will be instantly  filled with the promised holy spirit.

If it is the Love of God that you desire, you will find it by searching your own heart.  Do not listen to others who think they know you and tell you they can lead you to God.  Regardless of what anyone says or does, your mind will decide its merit.  Your mind and heart together is all anyone needs to unlock the wisdom and knowledge presented to us in the Bible.  Do not be lead astray by someone else’s declared knowledge of God and be told how, what, when, why, and where you should be thinking and doing as a Christian.  No one but you knows what God wrote in your heart and mind.  It is likely as unique as you yourself.

KOOTENAY UNCHURCH shows how to use Jesus’ second great commandment, the one all the laws and prophets hang upon, to develop a spiritual viewpoint of any situation.  God’s Word is powerful and exerts force, changing a secular view point to a spiritual one.  Choose for yourself  which one is better, the secular or the spiritual.

To choose the secular over the spiritual will require you to lie to yourself, a difficult task if at all possible.  The spiritual view will align with your heart and mind creating a burst of joy that for me sent shivers down my back.  My mind had approved the evidence presented by the two different viewpoints as proof…the first I had ever recognized!

  • Proof

    Beginning to Trust.   Part Three

Proof is what I looked for throughout my life searching for belief in God’s Word.  It seemed I had proof of everything except God.  I trusted my bicycle because I proved to myself that I could ride it.  I trusted math because I  proved my answers over and over and over until my trust was enough and I went on to have faith in it.  I was convinced that I could learn anything if I put my mind to it.  I’m now convinced that ‘trust’ is evident at the beginning of everything I know.

Everything except God.  I wanted so much to believe the Bible but I could only remember one thing I trusted about God.  It was something I learned in about grade six.  The class was marveling at the number 1961 that said the same thing if you rotated it 180 deg.  Someone asked if there were other numbers like that so we all tried for a while but couldn’t find one.  Then someone asked ” If we keep going back in time what happened at zero years” ?  The answer the teacher gave (and the teacher is always right!), was to be the first proof I knew about God’s Word.

To me at the age of about 13 yrs. this was absolute proof of at least something in the Bible and I trusted it.  It was to become an immovable anchor, permanently wedged between and doubt and belief.  I could not deny this one fact yet I couldn’t seem to find anymore proof like that.  My attempts at going to church ended in disbelief and frustration.  There seemed to be no end of things we must be doing and must have faith in but not a word about how to do it.  This constant barrage of information, must does, must haves, and must believes, never seemed to be accompanied by any kind of proof.  It was all hear-say without it.

It is in this lack of proof where churches fail.  Failure to provide proof benefits Satan’s plans and not God’s.  Without proof, people are being asked to disregard the way they have learned everything else in life, and just believe what they are hearing, what they are being told.  The concept of believing without proof seems to be how many people view the act of having faith.  The more they can throw reason to the wind and just believe, the stronger they see their own faith, and I think, see themselves as different from other people.

I must make it very clear that I do not lay blame to anyone or any church, it is how I see things that can only be explained by the effect Satan has on this world; all of which lead all of us away from God.  Satan’s effect on churches have led them away from looking for and finding proof of the good of God’s Word.  Without proof God’s Word remains hopeful but irrational.  Many people suffer the consequence of confusing their hope as their faith.  The distinction between the two has become blurred without a clear understanding of their differences.  Proof is essential.

Proof is a state of mind.  Proof is not a thing, person, place, or anything detected by any of our five senses.  Proof is a state of mind achieved when a threshold of trust has been reached.  The mind sets this threshold itself depending on the accuracy or dependability of the proof.  Our mind recognizes it as proof instantly if you touch a flame compared to someone telling you a thousand times it will hurt it you touch the flame.  Someone telling you will never be seen as good a proof as experiencing it yourself will be.  Thus says the Bible, trust is the beginning of knowledge and understanding.  Without proof we do not trust.

If we do not have proof we will have hope but not trust.   With proof we begin to trust, with repetition that trust accumulates toward the threshold our mind has set for proof and acceptance as fact.  This ‘learning process’  is the same for everyone and everything including the Word of God.

KU teaches how to apply God’s Word in such a way as to produce two distinct options to any situation.  One option is the secular one we are used to, the other, the less familiar spiritual one.  If we try to decide which one is better in some way, our mind sets a threshold for proof.  We will weigh both options searching for proof that one way is better than the other until the threshold is reached or, cannot be reached;  believable or not believable.  This is one way of searching for truth as if for silver, as recommended in the Bible.

  • Beginning to Trust

It seems to me that we are all in a constant state of decision making throughout our day, often subconsciously.  KU uses Jesus’s second commandment to make decisions with all day long, but on a very conscious level.  We will be observing others.  This is an exercise only, of the mind and heart, and requires no physical action.  We will be quietly evaluating other peoples’ interactions with Jesus’ second commandment, ‘love your neighbor as yourself’.

I just have to say again that this is an exercise only, keep it private and for your own understanding.  This exercise will be using God’s Word as the basis for a decision we will make as often as possible.  I suggest you begin with a TV show you are watching, one you  are familiar with the characters would be good.  A series or a show with the same characters being developed over a period of episodes would work.  The characters in these type of shows usually have distinctively portrayed personalities, good or bad, honest or dishonest, devious or naive.  Your job is to identify what you think about their actions.  You will become a silent judge condemning or excusing them, using the laws God wrote in your heart along with your conscience, sometimes accusing them, sometimes defending them.

Judging others’ actions with the second commandment activates your own heart and mind as in Romans 2:15.  Judging their actions will produce an opinion based on what God has written on the tablets of your heart and in your mind.  Judging fictitious characters is an excellent way to practice making decision  using your own heart and mind, not on someone else’.  Doing so will offer two scenarios, the secular one played by the the character, and a spiritual one based on the second commandment and your own heart and mind; the way you would ‘love as yourself’.

One of these scenarios will be more pleasing than the other.  Make a conscious decision at this point which one is better in some way or another, or perhaps many ways.  The more pleasing one will be the one that best aligns you with God, the one that pleases your soul, being in agreement with both heart and mind .  Choosing this scenario is an act of repenting to Jesus’ Word; following His commandment.  The more we do it, the better we get, the quicker we get, the happier we get.  It’s natural, pleasing, and fun, choosing God’s way.  The process becomes habitual and in no time at all His way, will become your way as you begin to trust and love God, and His Word with your whole heart, whole mind, and your whole soul.

    Think about it.

  • Saved once again

I had not intended to be writing about this subject until this morning.   I guess that’s the beauty of a Blog.  I want to tell you about how God’s Word saved me today, just 10 minutes ago.  It all started yesterday at the Canadian Tire store.  I needed a liter of transmission oil but was shocked at the price of over 18 dollars per liter.  I decided to shop around and after a few stores found what I was looking for at under 13 dollars.  This was at a store I usually avoided because of high prices if your not a member.  Against my better judgement I headed back to Canadian Tire to ask their manager why it was so much more expensive at their store.  By this time I was truly planning a confrontation with the manager rather than asking him anything.  I was visualizing how much milk I could get now that I shopped around or a box of cereal, a loaf of bread, good for about four breakfasts.  I began to fume.

To say the least I proceeded in a manner far from how God would want me to.   Although I did save some grocery money it cost me far more in self frustration, anger, loss of sleep, and above all…the self dissapointment I felt before God.  Through meditation over His Word, a cup of coffee, and some morning herb I had calmed down enough to begin praying.  I felt so ashamed of my willing disregard for God’s Word yesterday.  I hadn’t forgot it, I had chose to ignore it, to proceed in the way I have learned to proceed most of my life, Godlessly.  Using my mind only, I delivered a heartless message, one I myself would not have wanted to be on the receiving end of.  I had not come even close to loving my neighbor as myself.

In prayer I did not pray for His forgiveness, I thanked Him for it.   The Bible tells us through Jesus’ sacrifice our past, present, and even our future sins have been forgiven by God because of His sacrifice.  It is times like this that the gravity of that becomes so real.  If it were not for this forgiveness I would be hopeless.  His forgiveness sets the stage for me to be able to stumble and yet get up, to sin yet know He has already forgiven me.  Even though I know He saw my every move and thought, I don’t cower in shame but feel His forgiveness, drawing me to Him, comforting me.  The thought makes me want to try again, to try to remember His Word and follow it next time, swallowing my childish pride and humbling me enough that I can learn and try again.     I am after all, a child; thankfully of God.

I have no idea how a person could possibly fake or even imagine the feeling of being forgiven by God without a strong healthy faith in His Word.  The kind of faith I now possess.  The kind we all have in our parents, best friends, siblings or all the processes, sciences, music etc.etc.  The kind I did not have in God for 66 yrs. but now do.  I realized it took tremendous faith to drive a vehicle with all it’s inherent risks, and remain calm, in full control, and confident.  I realized I did not have that kind of faith in God’s Word, not even close, but I sure wanted it.

The kind of faith I am trying to describe started in the same way the faith I have in everything started.  Like the first time I knew I could ride my bike, that transition from hope to knowledge; the beginning of trust, understanding and knowledge of riding a bike.  In the same way, I took that leap from hope to knowledge; the beginning of trust, understanding and knowledge of the Word of God.

It was from this humble start that my trust grew into faith.  The kind that saved me once again this morning.

KU is dedicated to helping others begin riding the Word of God, to experience for yourself that transition from hoping to knowing; the beginning of your trust, knowledge and understanding of the Word of God.  Your bicycle took you everywhere your faith would allow, so too can the Word of God.

  • The difference between faith and confidence

I have said earlier that faith equals confidence, and I still say that’s true but not in all ways.  There is one insignificant, unnoticed difference that makes all the difference in the world to our spirituality; it’s what we call it.  Whether we call it faith or call it confidence, makes a huge difference.  God designed us with only one way of developing faith, the way we have gained faith in everything we do, and in everything we trust.  In short you could say everything we have confidence in.  Even though it’s developed with the same process we don’t really connect the two as the same thing, keeping faith in God, different from personal confidence.

When it comes to confidence, we take credit for it ourselves.  Our accomplishments become viewed as our own doing rather than realizing we are gaining faith in everything, the way God designed us to.  Faith and confidence are developed the same way but by viewing them separately  we have separated God from ourselves, becoming self confident and independent of God or His Word.

Along with all the confidence we gain in ourselves, is the loss of our spiritual faith.  We have become dependent on ourselves and independent of God’s guidance, understanding, and love.  If we are not seeing our world as spiritual we are seeing it the way it is now, without God’s guidance and love.  Without a spiritual viewpoint our heart hardens, eventually blinding us from  seeing the goodness of God.

Now if you are a person without a Christian heritage searching for answers about God as I was most of my life, I would not recommend  looking at a church.  You need to be looking for God within yourself.  God tells us in the Bible that He has written His laws in our mind and on the tablets of our heart so we will all know Him from the least of us to the greatest.

Searching for God on your own is easy and instantly rewarding.  All it requires to really begin knowing God, is to begin viewing the world in a spiritual manner, it’s a process.  How do you do that?…by viewing it through His Word.   I wouldn’t recommend any church for the simple reason, they do not teach you how to develop your own spiritual viewpoint, but unceasingly drill their own collective viewpoint into you.  You will need to agree with their views and teaching to grow within their church.  But for me,  I simply could not develop faith in God’s Word based on someone else’s viewpoint.  We gain faith by developing our own viewpoint, a process that takes place in all of us, all of the time, and does it automatically.

To find faith in God’s Word we begin by building a spiritual viewpoint as well as our existing secular one.  If we contemplate our new spiritual viewpoint with our secular one, and compare them, it will be easy to choose the one that seems to be so much better.  Choosing like this, even in the privacy of our own mind over a cup of tea will begin to dilute your secular viewpoint.  The more times you choose the better, spiritual viewpoint over the secular one, the more times the good of God will shine through the veil of Satan’s spiritually blinding, secular system of things.  This process brings joy and guidance into our lives.

KU teaches how to start developing your own spiritual viewpoint by constantly identifying it and comparing it with our secular one.  It’s easy and spiritually uplifting.  To find out how easy and uplifting it can be, stay blogged!

  • WHY TRY

    What’s in it for me?

I know I said I would talk about identifying the two ways, God’s and Satan’s, but the thing on my mind today is why you might decide to try to begin trusting God’s Word. Right off the bat I will have to combat the existing paradigm around trust and faith. So many churches are operated by life long Christians who have developed their trust and faith in God from birth. The process of how they came to faith has long been lost in childhood memories and, even if they could remember everyone’s journey would be different and quite unteachable. Church leaders are quite likely the least qualified of anyone to teach how to develop faith to non Christians; they simply don’t know how, it’s just something they have.

So if you have gone to church or seen religious programs about faith and don’t get it, I would like to comment on the subject from a different perspective. Church views on faith are that everyone has their own way to faith and that it is something we can choose. Although this may work well for Christians it certainly doesn’t for the rest of us. Christians seem to think that faith is unique to God but in reality we all have faith in everything we do, we just call it something else in the secular world like courage or bravery, capable, confident.

KU views faith and confidence equally, one a Christian expression, one a secular expression. Nothing in the Bible seems to suggest we we’re created with a separate or unique faith for God alone, so if it’s not unique to God then it is the same faith we have in everything else, regardless of what we call it.

It is an extremely important fact. The most important thing about their equality is this: we should  teach faith/confidence in God’s Word the same way we teach faith/confidence in everything else we already have faith/confidence in?

After five years trying to get a church to consider this I had to give up. It just seemed too abstract to them who already had faith for as long as they could remember. How could anyone not have it or at least not choose to have it? I don’t think this is much more than a deep seated idea that never gets much thought, it’s just how it is. In church we have faith in God. Outside church we have confidence in ourselves.

Imagine though if we taught faith in God’s Word, with the same methods and philosophy as we do mathematics. If faith in God is the same as faith in anything else we might expect it’s as well known and used in life as mathematics. Wow!

This approach to knowing God starts with trust. It is the same trust we have in anything else. If we study the things we now trust we will find out when it started, how it grew into the faith we now have in it. We will find it is a repeating process of beginning to trust and strengthening that trust over and over again until we have complete faith in it.

This is the process we learn (gain faith/confidence) in everything, and is the same process I came to have faith in God’s Word after 66 years of searching for it.  Faith = Confidence, Confidence = Faith

So to get back to the original thought, what’s in it for me? Why should I give it a try?  It might be easier to ask yourself why you would not try, now that you know faith and confidence are the same thing.  The fact is everything we have ever learned uses the same process of beginning to trust it by using it over and over again and continuing on to faith in it.  Everyone learns everything the same way.  Everyone can learn to trust the Word of God the same way.  Nothing but the Word of God though offers anything close.
