I have said earlier that faith equals confidence, and I still say that’s true but not in all ways. There is one insignificant, unnoticed difference that makes all the difference in the world to our spirituality; it’s what we call it. Whether we call it faith or call it confidence, makes a huge difference. God designed us with only one way of developing faith, the way we have gained faith in everything we do, and in everything we trust. In short you could say everything we have confidence in. Even though it’s developed with the same process we don’t really connect the two as the same thing, keeping faith in God, different from personal confidence.
When it comes to confidence, we take credit for it ourselves. Our accomplishments become viewed as our own doing rather than realizing we are gaining faith in everything, the way God designed us to. Faith and confidence are developed the same way but by viewing them separately we have separated God from ourselves, becoming self confident and independent of God or His Word.
Along with all the confidence we gain in ourselves, is the loss of our spiritual faith. We have become dependent on ourselves and independent of God’s guidance, understanding, and love. If we are not seeing our world as spiritual we are seeing it the way it is now, without God’s guidance and love. Without a spiritual viewpoint our heart hardens, eventually blinding us from seeing the goodness of God.
Now if you are a person without a Christian heritage searching for answers about God as I was most of my life, I would not recommend looking at a church. You need to be looking for God within yourself. God tells us in the Bible that He has written His laws in our mind and on the tablets of our heart so we will all know Him from the least of us to the greatest.
Searching for God on your own is easy and instantly rewarding. All it requires to really begin knowing God, is to begin viewing the world in a spiritual manner, it’s a process. How do you do that?…by viewing it through His Word. I wouldn’t recommend any church for the simple reason, they do not teach you how to develop your own spiritual viewpoint, but unceasingly drill their own collective viewpoint into you. You will need to agree with their views and teaching to grow within their church. But for me, I simply could not develop faith in God’s Word based on someone else’s viewpoint. We gain faith by developing our own viewpoint, a process that takes place in all of us, all of the time, and does it automatically.
To find faith in God’s Word we begin by building a spiritual viewpoint as well as our existing secular one. If we contemplate our new spiritual viewpoint with our secular one, and compare them, it will be easy to choose the one that seems to be so much better. Choosing like this, even in the privacy of our own mind over a cup of tea will begin to dilute your secular viewpoint. The more times you choose the better, spiritual viewpoint over the secular one, the more times the good of God will shine through the veil of Satan’s spiritually blinding, secular system of things. This process brings joy and guidance into our lives.
